Day Four: Drive from Kathmandu to Beni Today, I woke up at 5:30am, had a quick shower, then checked and locked all my bags, ensuring that nothing fragile was anywhere where it could get crushed or banged around in the jeep. I then lugged the 150kg of gear down to the lobby, quickly had breakfast, discussed some final details about the trek with Nima, then piled into the jeep with our cook, Martin, and Jorge. An hour into the drive, we were forced to stop thanks to a leaky radiator. After some tweaking, we managed to get it to stop for the moment, and continued on our way. The day was uncharacteristically hot, and the road was very dusty and bumpy. Ten agonizing hours later, we arrived in Beni. We hobbled out of the jeep into a typical roadside hotel, cleaned up, had dinner, then went to bed. Our bags will continue by road tomorrow until Lete, however, we will begin walking tomorrow with one porter each (who will carry our trekking gear).
