Day Two In Islamabad After a rough night of sleep thanks to jetlag and worries about my missing bag, I woke up at 7:00 AM and went downstairs to have breakfast in the hotel. Not your average breakfast when curry’s involved. I then went to the Marriot and checked my email. Then it was back out into the scorching heat to go to the Kohasar Market to get some last minute groceries. After dropping my groceries off at my hotel it was off to the Asian Money Changers in the Blue Area of Islamabad to get $1000.00 USD changed into Pakistani Rupees, and let’s just say, counting 60,000 PKR takes some time. When I returned to my hotel to dump the huge wad of cash I had acquired, the team asked me to come to the ATP office to go over some logistics with Essar Karim, pay for our permit, purchase cans of EPI fuel for Skardu, etc. When all that was done, I returned to the hotel and sorted gear for awhile longer. That pretty much sums up the day. Nothing very exciting and lots of chores and running about town. |
