Dispatch Twenty-four: July 3rd, 2007 |
Day Twenty-Four: Rest / Storm Day at Base Camp Today, I woke up at 8:00am to a white base camp. We received at least four inches of new snow overnight. Although I had previously planned on going up to stock Camps I, II, and III today, the weather forecast I received yesterday changed my mind. It predicted snow and high winds until mid-week. Adding to this was Carlos and Felix’s report that there was already too much snow above Camp II, and it would be wise to allow it to settle before proceeding up to Camp III. The day went by quite slowly. I finished one book, and read over 150 pages of another and chatted with the other climbers. After dinner, Felix turned on the generator and put on an old movie. We watched this and then went to bed. |
