2008 K2 and Broad Peak Expedition

Day Nineteen: Goro II to Broad Peak Base Camp

Today, Hughes and I woke up at 6:30am, packed up our things, had a quick breakfast, all the while yet again, the mess tent was being torn down around us. We began the trek at 7:30am. The morning was cool thanks to some lingering clouds and our pace was very quick. We arrived at Concordia three hours after we had left and waited for awhile until all the Italians had arrived. This was where our paths split; theirs to the right toward Gasherbrum Base Camp, and ours to the left towards K2. After saying our goodbyes and wishing each other good luck, we continued onto Broad Peak Base Camp. The familiar walk brought me back to memories of 2007 and before I knew it, I had arrived (only an hour after leaving Concordia). We set up our camp, had lunch, and enjoyed the views of Mitre Peak, Broad Peak, Marble Peak, Chogolisa, and the Golden Throne (unfortunately K2 was obscured by clouds).
