Dispatch Two: May 31st, 2008

Day Two: Day In Islamabad

Today, after waking up at 4:00am thanks to jetlag, I went to the Marriot Hotel to have breakfast at the Nadia Cafe. I worked on updating my website and discovered who the others sharing my permits would be. To my delight, I found that Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, who I knew from my 2005 GII and 2007 Broad Peak expeditions, was climbing K2 on my team. Additionally, I discovered that Badia and Mauricio (who I teamed up with on Broad peak in 2007), Blair (who I met on Shishapangma in 2007), and Tirtha Tamang, who was on my permit in both 2005 and 2006 on GII, were to share my permit on Broad Peak this season as well. Always nice to have familiar faces in Base Camp. After breakfast, I ran a few errands around town and then got an early night.
