Day Nine: Another Day in Islamabad; News from Lina

Today, I was delighted to discover that my friend Catalina Quesada Castro, whom I have climbed with in Morocco and Tibet, and who had recently become the first Andalucian woman to summit Mount Everest, was coming to join me on Broad Peak and K2 later this month. The number of people who I know climbing in Pakistan this year is astounding... It just goes to show how small the 8000 meter climbing community really is. Although I was and still am disappointed in the fact that our departure to Skardu has been so delayed, I found a few last minute errands to run. I decided to bring back memories from a few years ago (when I stayed at the Shalimar Hotel in Rawalpindi), and have dinner at the Pearl Continental in Rawalpindi. Afterwards, I picked up my laundry from the hotel, and headed to bed.
