2009 Solo Manaslu Expedition |
Dispatch Twenty-five: April 17th, 2009 |
Day Twenty-five: Manaslu BC; Storm; Wait for Summit Window Today, after a deep sleep. I awoke in base camp around 5:30am, my tent mostly buried by the new snow. I went outside to dig it out and then splinted the broken poles. I was done by breakfast. I noticed a group of Italians preparing a helipad above our camp and then heard that it was for Roberto Manni to be transported out of base camp down to Kathmandu; a pre-existing nerve problem in his leg was acting up. I headed down to the Spanish Camp to chat with them and make the time go by faster. I returned back to my gloomy camp for a silent dinner with Alberto and his team then went to bed. |
