2009 Shishapangma Expedition |
Day Fourteen: ABC; Snow Storm Thwarts Carry to Deposit Today, as we feared, we woke up to a snowy base camp. It didn’t stop snowing all night. I knew by the fact that Mario had let me sleep till 8:00am that we weren’t going to carry to the depot camp today. I ambled over to the mess tent, and had a relaxed breakfast with Mario and Paola. We spent the day reading, listening to music, and trying our best to kill the time. In the afternoon, Carlos Pauner’s two Sherpas came over to our camp for a visit. I knew one of them from Pakistan in 2007, where I met him in the airport in Skardu after my Broad Peak expedition and his K2 Expedition. The other Mario and I knew from Manaslu, where he was also hired by Carlos Pauner’s expedition. We chatted for sometime about our respective plans for Shishapangma as well as past expeditions. They left a few hours later and Mario and Paola arrived for dinner. |
