Day Thirty-seven: Juanito Oiarzabal Heads Home; Visit from Kinga Today, after an early breakfast, Mario started preparation for our lunch with Juanito Oiarzabal, his team mate Tolo Calafat, the Romanian, Horia Calibásanv, and the Polish, Kinga Barabowska. He prepared Risotto Milanese and a fresh salad. The others arrived around 1pm, and we spent the majority of the afternoon socializing. Around 3pm, Juanito and Tolo headed down with the yaks to Chinese Base Camp. The afternoon weather deteriorated, and snow began, trapping us in the mess tent. We killed the time with our expansive collection of magazines and decided that it would be easier to just have dinner with Horia as well since his camp was right next door and the cook was quite good friends with ours. We talked to one of Andrew Lock’s team mates in base camp and told her that he could use our tent in Camp III on his summit bid if he liked and save his strength for the new variation between the Iñaki route and Polish Route he plans on attempting. We had dinner and enjoyed each other's company for the rest of the evening, then went to bed.
